Position Title:

Construction Estimator

Immediate Supervisor:

Director of Project Management and Estimating

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Construction Estimator’s primary responsibility is estimating commercial construction projects from 500k to 15 mil. This position requires a full knowledge of CSI divisional cost codes and awareness of varying construction methods and building practices The Construction Estimator should have the ability to read and understand blueprints and translate into accurate quantity takeoffs. The position requires full knowledge of commercial budgeting and constructability analysis as well as must have strong ability to multitask. This position includes travel.

Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Receive and log documents for various projects.
  • Take off plans for all material quantities and labor associated with a job.
  • Create subcontractor list for project and set up pre-bid site meeting if necessary.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and assist with sub contractor site meetings.
  • Create transmittals and distribute plans for subcontractors.
  • Coordinate and upload .pdf files and .dwg files to FTP site.
  • Receive RFI’s for scope of work from subcontractors and distribute to proper authorities for answers.  Receive, interpret and process vendor and subcontractor RFI’s
  • Create and/or review submittals and shop drawings, coordinate approval process.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, vendors, and subcontractors on job scope and implementation.
  • Ability to field measure for various products and materials prior to job start
  • Visit site for preliminary information gathering, i.e. photographs, existing conditions, size of electrical panels, ceiling heights etc.
  • Assist in sourcing products and materials for various projects
  • Review, analyze and verify bids for accuracy with subcontractors and vendors
  • Other duties as required

Experience

Five years of local (MD) estimating experience a must! Must be detail oriented and posses excellent communication and intrapersonal skills. Estimating federal projects and Timberline experience a plus.
