Business Development Associate

Orange County, CA

Essential functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Drive the development of new relationships within the hospitality space including ownership groups, hotel management firms, third-party construction management firms, designers, architects, and other professional service companies who serve this niche.

  • The associate will work with the Vice President of Business Development, Executive Vice President, and President to pursue leads and opportunities as they may develop through already established relationships.

  • Collaborate with other team members to complete proposals, presentations, and other client deliverables.

  • Provide direction to marketing department on the development of presentation materials including Statement of Qualifications (SOQ).

  • Independently manage pipeline of opportunities and prioritize sales activity accordingly.

  • Join and become an integral part of the local and regional industry associations by volunteering for committee positions and leadership roles.

  • Play a key role in the promotion of the company's objectives through the participation and networking within these groups.

  • Transmit Business Development report once a week summarizing activity, leads, opportunities, and market developments to the Vice President of Business Development and other executives.

  • Provide information regarding critical intelligence, data, and industry developments to Headquarters in a timely manner.

  • Ensure that all critical dates for bid proposals and other client-related deliverables are understood by Headquarters and are on track to meet deadlines.

Skills, Capabilities, and Qualifications:

  • The Business Development Associate needs to think dynamically, exhibit high energy, thrive on developing new relationships as well as collaborate well with multiple stakeholders internally and build rapport with clients from all types of backgrounds.

  • A Bachelor's degree is preferred, but not required.

  • 5 to 10 years of experience in business development or business-to-business sales in North America is required.

  • Extensive knowledge of the hospitality renovation industry and experience in the architecture and design community are ideal. Otherwise, transferable experience and knowledge from industries such as commercial real estate or finance will be considered.

  • Demonstrated success in developing relationships with sophisticated business clients over the long term will be a strong bonus.

  • Position requires travel 40% to 70% of the time regionally, and occasionally to our Headquarters in Maryland.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Project, Word, Excel, Outlook) and other related software.

  • Extensive working knowledge of ACT! or similar CRM database.

  • Must have a valid and current drivers' license with proof of insurance coverage at all times.

  • Must be a team player and maintain a quality team environment.
